It’s true, everything old, is in fact, new again. We’ve seen it in the form of strong shoulders, showcased by queen of the Globes, Anne Hathaway, and in those disco era jumpsuits that we just can’t decide if we love or loath. One thing, however, is crystal clear–the coolest clothes transcend time, and often owners. Personal style calls for serious creativity and often enough, the perfect piece isn’t hanging from the rack at your local Bloomingdales…it’s somewhere among the piles at your local thrift store or at the newest and coolest consignment shop down the street. What’s better than a $6 sweater that’s unique to our wardrobe? One with its very own sewn in shoulder pads.
So we’ll admit, the outfits above aren’t exactly office appropriate. This does not mean, however, that vintage pieces should be reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. Below are the items in our closets that we rock to the office on a regular basis. But, we advise saving the boots for casual Friday…if you can bear to wait that long.
By now you are probably itching to start the hunt for amazing vintage gems to enhance your own wardrobe, and ladies, you’re in luck. We were thrilled last week when we heard from Samantha Brown, owner of New York City’s fabulous consignment shop, The Missing Piece. What’s awesome about The Missing Piece is that those of us who are unfortunately not located in the Big Apple, can access Sam’s amazing, and ever-revolving collection via the newly launched online store, TheMissingPieceOnline.com. The very best news of all? As readers of The Sequined Blazer, you can purchase anything in the online store at 10% OFF the regular price (simply enter the code TSB10 at the checkout). Check out some of the super cool duds below and visit the site to get shopping!
